On August 1, 2012, 1,000 Sudanese lawyers were beaten and arrested by the Sudanese Police Force and National Congress. They were targeted while having a peaceful meeting in Khartoum to discuss the current human rights abuses occurring in Sudan. This act of violence perpetrated by the government occurred just one day after the massacre in Nyala. The government is cracking down on anyone who opposes or speaks out against President Bashir’s regime. Like the Syrian government, Bashir’s regime is targeting everyone, children, women, and men without any remorse.
