Ms. Roman is currently a
graduate student at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ where she will be receiving a Masters of Social Work degree. Lissette is currently specializing in Non-Profit Management and Policy,
International Social Work and working toward a certificate in Violence Against Women and Children. Since 2012, Lissette has served as an Anti-Sexual
Assault Advocate for Essex County, providing crisis intervention services to survivors of sexual assault.
Prior to joining the International Justice Project, Lissette worked for some of the nation’s top ranking law firms as a Litigation Paralegal where she compiled extensive background information of high
profile individuals and corporate entities for use in deposition
testimonies investigating the catalysts behind the financial crisis of 2008.
Inspired by the government work her grandfather performed in the Dominican Republic, Lissette hopes to carry on his giving spirit by advocating on behalf of those affected by human rights abuses, specifically sexual exploitation in children. Lissette has joined the
International Justice Project as an Associate Program Officer and will lead the Human Trafficking Program and the Emergency
