Garfield R. Simpson emigrated from Kingston, Jamaica, W.I. to Paterson, New Jersey, America in 1972. He received his elementary education and high school degree in the Paterson Public School System and initially attended William Paterson College (WPC). Later, Mr. Simpson formed an entertainment company and developed a recording studio with a show band. Later in 2006 he served a prison sentence for marijuana-related offenses. Yet, because he stuck to steadfastly professing his innocence, his conviction is under judicial review, in 2017.
Garfield attended Essex County College (ECC) and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies with Highest Honors, and a 3.83 GPA. Simultaneously volunteering with Legal Services of New Jersey Essex-Newark. While also serving as president of the ECC’s Paralegal Studies Club from 2015 to 2016. Additionally, invited to membership in Phi Theta Kappa – an academic Honor Society- and an ECC Scholar member. Garfield also excelled in the 2015 Seton Hall Summer Institute for Pre-Legal Program winning first place in Oral Respondent Advocacy for Moot Court Competitions.
Currently, Garfield attends Rutgers University – Newark Campus maintaining a GPA of 3.90. During his short tenure has already received numerous awards and honors for his academic scholarship. He is currently pursuing his undergraduate B.A. in Public Administration and Non-Profit at Rutgers-Newark while simultaneously taking graduate courses for his M.S. Degree in Global Affairs with plans to further the interest of those disenfranchised members of humanity.
